The former Kraftwerk Dresden-Mitte, an imposing 19th-century industrial complex, has now become a unique cultural, creative and arts hub in the heart of Dresden. Being within walking distance from the inner city, it has an excellent location and boasts impressive architecture that combines the heritage-listed brick structures with modern buildings.
Just under 100 years ago, the site was still being used to generate power for the Saxon state capital. Today, it is home to the Staatsoperette, the tjg. theater junge generation, the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music and the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory. The facility is now also being used by the arts and hospitality industries. Additional buildings will gradually be renovated over the next few years to create a vibrant new centre.
