Opera

The third pillar of the State Operetta's repertoire is opera, more specifically light opera. With works such as 'Zar & Zimmermann' (1997) and 'Martha' (1999), the genre has firmly established itself in the theatre's programme. These were followed by 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' (2004), 'Der Wildschütz' ("The Poacher") (2005) and 'The Bartered Bride' (2014), Axel Köhler's production of "The Magic Flute" (2008) and "The Merry Wives of Windsor" (2022).
In the 2023/24 season, Giacomo Puccini's "La Bohème" will be on the programme of the Staatsoperette for the first time; the performance will be in German.
