Riccardo Romeo was born in Augsburg as the son of Italian parents, and grew up bilingually. During his youth, he sang in various choirs at Augsburg's Albert Greiner Sing- und Musikschule, and in the children's and youth choir of the Theater Augsburg. He was a soloist in several opera productions, which saw him gain initial on-stage experience. In 2005, for instance, he played the little shepherd boy in Puccini's Tosca, and later featured in various children's operas at the Komödie Augsburg.
After completing his schooling, he began studying singing at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, taking classes from Prof Berthold Possemeyer. During his studies there, he did guest performances at the Nuremberg State Theatre, the Darmstadt State Theatre and the Frankfurt Opera House. In the summer of 2015, Riccardo completed an ERASMUS semester at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSM) in France, where, after successfully obtaining his Bachelors degree, he was accepted into the Masters course in opera (under Yves Sotin) in 2017. His repertoire ranges from lyrical tenor to character roles.
Riccardo has already participated in several masterclasses led by the likes of Mireille Alcantara, Enza Ferrari, Helmut Deutsch, Axel Bauni, William Christie and Veronique Gens. He also holds a scholarship from the Fondation Royaumont.
In the summer of 2018, Riccardo played Monostatos in the local production of The Magic Flute (La flûte enchantée) on Île d’Yeu in France as part of the Festivals Escales Lyriques. And, during the 2018/19 season, he performed as Basilio (Mozart) at the Stadttheater Giessen, as Ecclitico (Haydn) in the annual production at the CNSM de Paris, and as Prince Ramiro (Isouard) at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne. During the 19/20 season, he was called on to play Gastone (La Traviata, Verdi) at the Zénith d’Orléans and Soldato in a production of Incoronazione di Poppea at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
During the 2020/21 season, he was a company member at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theatre. He joined the Dresden State Operetta's cast of soloists at the beginning of the 2021/22 season.
